We lit our torches to disperse the pitch-black surroundings. The inside resembled an Egyptian-style design. There were brick walls, pillars, and various statues. We went past a large main torch that would light up the entire room. We lit the torch and then, everything became bright. As we continued along, we heard slithering and hissing from all corners. One small creature slithered by. "Aaahh SNAKE!," shrieked Aislin". It was Asp; one of the many snakes that Chinatsu had previously warned us about. The three of us agreed to watch out for each other, as well as to watch our feet for any Asp encounters. We proceeded onward, and opened a door that led us into the next room, by pushing a nearby and protruding brick into the wall. Once inside the room, there were dangerous cobra statues all over the place. Each statue breathed fire at anyone who was trespassing on or inside of the temple's property. We had to act quickly, so that we wouldn't get caught in the flames. In between the statues, Krista was able to point out a switch. We moved closer and to our dismay, the switch was a puzzle that we had to solve. We had to align the moon and sun with a corresponding animal on the picture. "How do we solve this?" I asked, being unable to decipher the meaning.
"You have to place the moon key on the scarab, and the sun key on the phoenix," shouted a voice. It was Chinatsu. She had entered the temple. I set up the pattern exactly as she said. Once done, the flames stopped and the door opened. Chinatsu approached us with a smug grin. "I knew that the three of you would be hopeless," she sneered. "This place is full of writing that none of you would understand. So I guess I'll have to hold your hands through this whole exploration." "Ok, I'm getting tired of your attitude," said Aislin, irritated. "You need to stop with the smug act and show some manners." Chinatsu glared at her response. "Do you want my help or not?" she asked. We knew that we were stuck without knowing the puzzles, so we accepted much to Aislin's chagrin. Chinatsu led the way through the newly opened door leading to a lower level of the temple. This level consisted of phantom guards from many years ago. They were Anubis soldiers with active animal heads. Chinatsu was able to breeze past them with two swift wind kicks. I drew my sword and slashed through a group of them, while Aislin and Krista relied on their magical spells. "Here!" announced Chinatsu. "The door is this way!" The key was, of course, another puzzle. Chinatsu solved it by releasing a guillotine, which decapitated a decaying corpse of a prisoner.
We proceeded into the next room. This time, the floor was crawling with extremely poisonous asps. We knew that one wrong step could mean disaster. "Be careful, Chinatsu warned. "Jump on the pillars. That will be our bridge." We jumped on the pillars as she instructed. We jumped from pillar to pillar, trying not to fall and get bitten. We reached the final pillar. Chinatsu jumped across first. I jumped second, Aislin third and Krista fourth. As Krista landed, she slipped. Panicked, I quickly ran back and grabbed her arm, saving her from the snakes and pulling her to safety. The four of us were at the final door. Aislin and Krista felt a presence from the other side. "Dalal. The first witch we're confronting." Krista thought. "I can sense the souls that were taken." "Let's go," I replied. I then pulled a book from one of the skeletons, opening the door, which lead to Dalal's lair.
I might revise this part a bit in the future. I just wanted to get this part moving and not be stuck in the same place forever. I actually wanted to ATTEMPT to write it without complicating things.
